LEAGUE NEWS
Sat 27th Mar – Caerphilly Tournament – the closing date for entries has been extended until the 18th April. This year the event will be held at St.Cenydd Leisure Centre, Caerphilly and will be over Saturday and Sunday 26th & 27th June. This years event is set to be bigger and better than last years event and is open to club from all over the UK, spaces will be limited and on a first come first served basis. Age Groups will be U8, U10, U12, U14, U16, U17 & Ladies (all subject to numbers of entrants at each age group). Tue 23rd Mar – SWGL U10’s Update – Please note that the fixtures have again been updated to reflect Easter Sunday and the omission of Pontypridd Town as hosts in the revised schedule.
Mon 22nd Mar – SWGL U10’s Update – Please note that both Georgetown have withdrawn their U10’s. Please also note the updated fixtures list for the SWGL U10 Fun Festivals until the end of May by following the link on the U10 Contacts page.
Sat Sat 13th Mar – SWGL U12 Representative Team Update – Please note the additional dates now added on the Representative Team page for the U12’s.
Sat 13th Mar - League Council Update – can all clubs please note that as expected the South Wales Football Association (SWFA) have amended the age group bandings for the 2010/11 season . Next season the two year (2 year) age band has been extended and will now be implemented and enforced for the U10, U12 & U14 Age Groups, the U16, U17 and potentially U18 Age Groups will remain with a three year (3 year) age banding. Anyone would like more information please contact Rob Lewis, League Secretary.
Sat 13th Mar - Representative Team Update – can all Players, Coach’s & Parents please note that the League Representative Team takes precedence over all other non league associated football with the exception of International duties, this ruling is enforceable and can be found in the South Wales Football Association rule book. As stated at the Representative Trials to all players, if you do not attend the Representative training sessions without valid reason or as a result of contravening the aforementioned ruling then you may be removed from the squad. Sun 7th Mar – League Council Update - The 2010 AGM for the South Wales Girls League will be held on Tuesday May 18th 2010 at Penarth Conservative Club, Stanwell Road, Penarth commencing at 7.30pm. Please find below some notes for all Clubs to be aware of:
- All member Clubs must be represented at the AGM as per rule
- Any Club wishing to put forward a motion for either change to rule or addition to rule must do so in writing and forward to the SWGL League Secretary no later than April 20th.
- Likewise any person wishing to stand for a post on League Council must inform the SWGL League Secretary in writing by April 20th.
- The League is already in receipt of affiliation forms from the SWFA for next season and the SWFA have instructed that all Clubs must be affiliated to them by the end of JUNE. Any later than this and the SWFA have instructed that that Club must not be included in the fixtures for the start of the season. These forms will be ready for collection at the AGM but if any Club wishes to have one prior to that date contact the SWGL League Secretary.
- Due to the above all Clubs MUST have their entry forms, along with League entry fees in to the SWGL League Secretary by the beginning of the AGM at the latest. Any Club not complying with this will not be permitted entry into the League for the season 2010/11. This will be strictly adhered to this season with no exceptions. Entry forms will be sent out to clubs within the next two weeks and certainly by late March early April at the latest.

Sat 13th Feb - League Council Update (Representative Tournament) - as well as being one of the most prestigious all girls tournaments to be held in Wales it is also an opportunity to raise some much needed funds for the league. This funding will allow the league to continue to grow and develop. As such if anyone knows of any individual, small business or company who would be interested in supporting the league by either taking out an advert in the programme or by taking up one of the various sponsorship packages available for the event please contact Rob Lewis, League Secretary in the first instance.
Sat 13th Feb - League Council Update (Representative Tournament) - the league are looking for volunteers not only in the organising of the tournament itself but also the league are going to be reliant upon many helpers on the day to assist with the manning of various stalls, bouncy castles etc. Could anyone who is able to help out on the day please contact Rob Lewis, League Secretary.
